In the Surgery Department at Ivinson Memorial Hospital there are 4 OR suits, a Cysto room, and an Endoscopy room. During 2003, about 3,500 procedures were performed, ranging from Orthopedic, Urology, General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Gastrology. The Perioperative Unit (Surgery Center) educates and prepares patients for their operation. The PACU (Recovery Room) is a critical area that focuses on making the patient's transition from the OR as comfortable and safe as possible. The Surgical Unit (Inpatient Surgery) is comprised of surgical patients that stay the night after surgery. This unit focuses on pain control, patient safety, and education of the patient while in the hospital at home. |
