Patient Testimonials

November 14, 2005

To all the nurses, food service helpers, lab & x-ray people who helped take care of me the past three days. Thank you all so much for the wonderful, kind, compassionate, and competent care you’ve given me. You’ve healed my body, filled my tummy, and sent me on my way with a song in my heart. Thank you for so graciously sharing your healing gifts with others.

God bless you all, Sally Edgar

Dear Friends,

How can I ever thank you for all the kindnesses and support you have shown to me & my family. We have been truly blessed by the miracle of Barbara’s recovery. The power behind the prayers and energies sent her way cannot be underestimated. We so appreciate all of the goodness that has been shown to us.

God bless you all,

Sincerely—

Sheila, Barbara, Max & Beth

Dear Kym,

Words alone cannot express our sincere and deep appreciation in working with this family in the death of such an awesome man.

Your efforts on September 28th and subsequent days were very heartfelt and will last in our memory for our own lifetime here—until we get to see, and be with, Gary Gerber again one day.

You Kym, and the hospital staff there in Laramie, are very special people to do all that you do, for Gary, for us, and so many others. God bless each of you.

With our sincere thanks and love,

The Gary Gerber Family

(Syracuse, Indiana)

Vicky, Leslie, Marilyn, Kim, and Marcella—

Thanks for all the kind words, thoughts and care that you gave to my mom—but most of all, thanks for the nice visits. What a great bunch you are!

David and Yvonne Cutbirth

To the Hospital Director—

I am writing this letter as a word of praise for all the members of your staff. From the triage nurse, the admitting person, to trainees and especially to Dr. Ty Battershell. All were kind, considerate and careful to explain all the necessary procedures. Thank you for helping to turn a difficult situation into a pleasant experience.

Sincerely,

Fay Kennedy

I have never had a better experience with physical therapy in all my years. Not only did Tracy Farrel help me, she made sure I was doing all I could do at home with exercise. She actually has made a difference in my well being as well as my back. She is the best!

Dear Mr. Toebbe,

…Last Sunday, March 12th, my companion…and I went upstairs to start the day. As usual I dropped off my juice at the computer desk by dialysis before getting started. As I looked down the hall towards the surgical nurse’s station, I could see a lot of commotion. The green and blue lights were on above Room 265. A Code Blue was in progress. Family members were sitting on chairs in the hall-looks of disbelief and tears on their faces. Medical staff were back and forth. When I got closer to the room I could hear CPR being administered in a very quiet, professional, and guarded way.

I have been at Ivinson for almost two years and on many occasions I have been greatly impressed by our staff—from the doctors, most certainly our nurses, and every aspect of our employees. But this morning all that culminated into two nurses that I personally know and work with.

“Judy” has been a night nurse on the surgical floor for about a year. Sid Peters has been on ECF forever. Both of these ladies worked their hearts out doing CPR to latterly save their patient. After the patient was moved to ICU I saw both of these nurses for a couple of hours “charting.” They were physically and emotionally drained.

Winston Churchill once said “Never never give up.” Mr. Toebbe, Sid and Judy and all the staff never gave up. It is my privilege and honor to work with Sid and Judy, and all the rest of the great people at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.

A week has now passed, but I won’t forget that morning. I just wanted to share this experience with you.

Sincerely,

An IMH employee

To whom it may concern:

On January 19, 2005, I was admitted to Ivinson Memorial Hospital under the care of Lars Peterson and Tom Nachtigal. My health was in a serious state.

I spent four weeks in the Hospital under the care of nurses and aides, the dietician, physical therapists—all of whom went beyond the call of duty to make me comfortable—always giving a kind smile and a pat on the arm to give me confidence I needed to get well.

Ivinson Memorial is to be commended for their excellent care of wounds. When they recommended Poudre Wound Clinic on my return home to Fort Collins, they said that they were the best around. I personally feel that Ivinson could start a Wound Clinic and become just as well known. Dr. Cobb from Poudre Wound Clinic looked at my wounds and said “Fine Job.” Thank you Sandy, Chris, Cindy, and Tammy—and dear Will who assisted on the weekends. You not only made me feel better physically but mentally too! I miss you!

Laramie and the surrounding community can be very proud of their hospital and its staff, and feel lucky that they have such a fine institution to go to if need be.

Dear Leslie,

I’m late in writing this letter—sorry for the delay.

My thanks to Marcella, Kim, Vicky and you for the extraordinary care you all provided me. The care I received at IMH Dialysis Unit was superior to other units I have used across the country.

Thank you,

Paul Martin

The Meredith and Jeannie Ray Cancer Center staff “was especially caring, sensitive, concerned, helpful and displayed a high level of professionalism. Special kudos to Kelly and Nancy… There wasn’t a question, even stupid ones, that they didn’t accommodate in a superb manner…This was about as good as you can get in treating a bad situation.”

Joe Sestak

Third Floor Nurses:

I want to thank you for your professional, caring and excellent car you provided to me during my stay.

Herb Hoover

Several of the nurses and technicians were absolutely critical to my process of recovery. Almost without exception, they were knowledgeable, helpful and patient and seemed personally involved in my recovery. I don’t feel that I would have recovered as rapidly, as well and as completely were it not for their assistance. I do not have a single negative thing to say about the nurses, technicians, therapists or doctors at Behavioral Health Services. Thank you so much.

Dear Kim,

While I have always received quality care from your nursing staff during my far too many visits to Ivinson Hospital, I would like to take this opportunity to single out a member of your staff for going far above and beyond the norm in her nursing care.

During a recent hospitalization, my doctor and I agreed that I should be seeking the services of a pain care specialist for my back problems. Upon learning of this, Geneva Schueler took it upon herself to contact a number of doctor’s offices who have been involved in my back problems to ensure that they would send my records to Dr. Harlan Ribnick in Cheyenne, the doctor who I will be seeking pain control care from.

Geneva certainly did not have to do this, and I am aware that the effort and time required on her part was significant. I am certain that her efforts did significantly streamline this next step in my long-term care. I cannot adequately express to you on this paper my thanks and gratitude for Geneva’s care. It truly does mean a lot to me, especially since I know that at times I have not been the most “congenial” patient at your facility. I am truly grateful.

Please convey my appreciation to Geneva, and giver her a “pat on the back.” She is a true professional and a definite asset to your nursing staff, worthy of commendation.

Sincerely,

Dave

Dear Mr. Toebbe,

I with to take this opportunity to express to you and your entire staff my appreciation for the truly professional care I received during my stay for surgery at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.

The persons in admissions, the pre-op department for tests, the surgical prep area, surgical area, and post-surgery area were without question the best I have ever had at any hospital. I made sure to express my appreciation to all these staff members for the professional and personal manner in which they treated me.

You as administrator have obviously established a training program for all levels of your staff to make every part of patient care a positive experience. As a school administrator for thirty-two years, I am aware of how important individual attention can be.

Please express to your staff my compliments for their dedication to patient care and for their professionalism in dealing with me as your patient.

Sincerely yours,

James R. Roach

ATT: Nurses. 3rd floor North Dear Dr. Palmer, Joan and Kizzy,

My name is Bernie Sommer. I was admitted to Ivinson Hospital in October 2005. At the time I was a mess a real sick person. I have stopped up once to say HI and you guys weren’t there. I will stop again.

Anyway since my stay at Ivinson I feel a lot better. I am doing what the Doctor ordered and it works. So that part is good. I now realize I was sick for a long time, maybe even years. So the relief is greatly appreciated.

The reason for this letter is to THANK YOU for your wonderful care. I can’t say enough about how well you treated me. You guys are the greatest. I realize we all have jobs and people do them and get paid. You guys were respectful, gentle and caring to say the least. You go way above and beyond the call of duty. I hope and pray you are rewarded for your efforts. You were kind and thoughtful when it came to my wife. Thank You for that!

I appreciated what was done for me by the 3 North Staff. Dr. Palmer, Joan and Kizzy stood out. We need more people like them! They should teach the class on bedside manner.

My only problem is….how to convince the Emergency Response people from other towns and states to take my family, my friends and I to you guys. It gives me great comfort knowing if I need medical attention in Laramie, I can go to Ivinson Memorial Hospital and you guys will be there! THANKS AGAIN!!

Bernie Sommer

I'm writing to say thank you.  My husband and I were in Laramie for the horse sale on August 26 and I got sick Friday night.  Everyone at the hospital were so nice!  As soon as we walked in the door, people were trying to help me.

Friends and family kept saying how awful it was to be sick and in a hospital so far away from home.  It wasn't.  If it HAD to happen, I'm glad it was there.  Just wish I didn't miss the sale.  The people were so caring and friendly.  I felt safe and well taken care of.

So, thank you very much for getting me home!  Everyone was great there.

Mary Scruggs

Dear Ivinson Nursing Staff,

Thank you for making my experience giving birth to Andrew as pleasant and wonderful as possible. You took such great care of me both times I came in. I am so grateful to have such a great facility and great nurses in Laramie.

Sincerely,

Kimberly, Rhett & Andrew Good

Good Morning,

My mother, Rhoda O. Lewis passed away last week at Ivinson Memorial Hospital after suffering a massive stroke.  My brother and I were with her day and night throughout the course of several days.  I want to thank everyone who helped us throughout this very difficult time.  From the ICU through Hospice there were any number of individuals at Ivinson that were kind, gracious, and caring - to my mother, and to my brother and myself - you have an excellent staff.

I especially want to thank three individuals whose level of care particularly stood out to me.  I hope I get their names right - a nurse named Jennifer, another nurse who worked at night, Kathy? (very tall and blonde), and perhaps especially a nurse named Jesse.  Jesse bathed my mother, and brushed her hair, really made her so beautiful, just as I always knew her to be.

Please thank everyone who contributed to the care of my mother.  All of them made the most difficult time in our lives a little easier.

Again, your entire staff is truly excellent.

Thank You!

Craig Lewis

Just a word of special thanks to Jean and Darbi for your care on my first day and night of surgery. Thanks to Janice and Brandi and the rest for your great care and help for the rest of my stay.

Thanks,

Ken Klein

To Dialysis Staff:

The unit was comfortable and pleasant. The staff welcomed me on my arrival, and were very competent. I definitely felt safe on dialysis. I would not hesitate to recommend this unit to other dialysis patients who travel. I would love to visit again. Keep up the wonderful service. Thank you for everything.

Donald D.

Surgical Inpatient Staff:

Thank you staff for the compassionate care you gave Jerry Ullrich and for allowing our occupation of his room last weekend. You have been sensitive to his care and understanding of his family’s need to be together. We’ve nothing but good things to say regarding our satisfaction with IMH’s environment.

Sincerely, Grace Ullrich and family

I would like to drop a note, regarding Jo in the hospital lab on 6-27-07. I was set up of r a blood draw by Dr. Peterson after fasting for 12 hours, no food or medications. My stomach was very painful and my balance was very bad, in other words I felt very bad. There was a mix up on the paper work, so the draw took some time. This is where Jo took over and got the paper work straightened out and the blood was quickly drawn. I think Jo sensed by distress so she took me by the hand and took me down to the cafeteria, go my tray all loaded and took me to a table and brought my coffee. She told me she would come back and take me to my truck. I had forgotten my can and left it at home, without it I was in danger of falling. I am close to 83 years old, and my health is not too good. I want to let you know what an outstanding employee you have and how much I appreciate her kindness and consideration.

Sincerely,

Wm. (Gordon) Gillespie
