HeartCode Skills
overview
AHA HeartCode courses use a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students knowledge and skills. After completing the online portion, students attend a structured HeartCode hands-on session, the HeartCode Skills Course, with an AHA Instructor. This session focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing.
Target Audience
All HeartCode courses: Student who are comfortable navigating online courses.
BLS: Anyone physically capable of preforming high-quality CPR
ACLS/PALS: Medical professions requiring ACLS/PALS skills
Prerequisites
- Physically able to perform high-quality CPR
- Successful completion of the current HeartCode course for the relevant AHA discipline (BLS/ACLS/PALS)
Required Materials
Current Provider Manual for the relevant AHA discipline (BLS/ACLS/PALS)
Successful Outcome
AHA BLS, ACLS, or PALS Provider certification and ecard viable for 2 years
Course Price
The online HeartCode portion can be purchased directly through the AHA.
Payment for the HeartCode Skills Course can be made to IMH at the Business Office on the 1st floor under the Atrium stairs prior to the course. The costs are as follows:
BLS Skills: $30
ACLS Skills: $85
PALS Skills: $85
