HeartCode Skills

overview

AHA Heart­Code courses use a vari­ety of eLearn­ing assets such as drama­ti­za­tions, eSim­u­la­tions, anima­tions, self-directed learn­ing, and inter­ac­tive activ­i­ties to teach students knowl­edge and skills. After complet­ing the online portion, students attend a struc­tured Heart­Code hands-on session, the Heart­Code Skills Course, with an AHA Instruc­tor. This session focuses on mean­ing­ful skills prac­tice, debrief­ing, team scenar­ios, discus­sions of local proto­cols, and skills testing. 

Target Audi­ence
All Heart­Code courses: Student who are comfort­able navi­gat­ing online courses.
BLS: Anyone phys­i­cally capa­ble of preform­ing high-qual­ity CPR
ACLS/PALS: Medical profes­sions requir­ing ACLS/PALS skills

Prereq­ui­sites

  • Phys­i­cally able to perform high-qual­ity CPR
  • Success­ful comple­tion of the current Heart­Code course for the rele­vant AHA disci­pline (BLS/ACLS/PALS)

Required Mate­ri­als
Current Provider Manual for the rele­vant AHA disci­pline (BLS/ACLS/PALS)

Success­ful Outcome
AHA BLS, ACLS, or PALS Provider certi­fi­ca­tion and ecard viable for 2 years 

Course Price
The online Heart­Code portion can be purchased directly through the AHA.
Payment for the Heart­Code Skills Course can be made to IMH at the Busi­ness Office on the 1st floor under the Atrium stairs prior to the course. The costs are as follows:
BLS Skills: $30
ACLS Skills: $85
PALS Skills: $85
