Expanding Pain Care: Ivinson’s New Interventional Pain Specialist

Ivinson Memorial Hospital is excited to announce the addition of Dan Nicholls, MD, to our team. On September 8, 2025, Dr. Nicholls will begin his new role as an interventional pain specialist with Ivinson Medical Group.

Dr. Nicholls completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and recently finished an interventional pain fellowship, where he gained expertise in minimally invasive procedures for managing chronic pain. He specializes in precision-guided injections, spinal interventions, and advanced treatments for back, neck, joint, and nerve pain.

A Wyoming native and University of Wyoming graduate, Dr. Nicholls earned his medical degree through the University of Washington School of Medicine’s WWAMI program. Before medical school, he also practiced as an orthopedic physician assistant, giving him a unique perspective on patient care and a team-based approach to treatment.

“My philosophy of care is rooted in listening first. Every patient’s pain journey is unique, and my goal is to work alongside patients to find the safest, most effective, and least invasive treatment that allows them to return to the life they want to live,” says Nicholls.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Nicholls enjoys hiking, biking, and snowboarding with his family, tackling home projects, and cheering on the Wyoming Cowboys.
