Providing vast experience and dedication: Ivinson’s new primary care physician

Welcoming a dedicated and committed physician to the Ivinson community, Doctor Tevfik Mentes, MD.
Primary care provider Dr. Mentes brings his knowledge and experience to Ivinson Memorial Hospital, offering to patients his expertise in disease prevention, treatment of chronic medical conditions, and cancer screening.
Dr. Mentes has been in practice for a total of 40 years with 21 years of practice in the U.S. Coming from Ankara, Turkey and establishing himself in Brooklyn, New York, his experience in health care is vast. His previous roles comprised of research assistant, emergency room physician, medical telecommunication consultant, internal medicine resident, and women’s health.
In October of 1986 he gained his Doctorate of Medicine from the Ankara University School of Medicine in Turkey. With his educational background he also holds an expansive range of certifications, along with licenses in Florida, Virginia, and New York. His learning journey in the U.S started at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, New York where he built his way up to an attending physician position. In 2012 he transferred to Harlem Hospital, then in 2023 he moved to VA Lakeland Clinic in Florida. Within his skill set he also has experience with advanced research being a co-writer of the article “Treatment Of AIDS” published by Turkey’s Journal of Medical Sciences.
When it comes to patient care he is most excited to bring his knowledge as a seasoned physician. “My philosophy is to make the patient as comfortable as possible so that he/she can easily express herself/himself without any reservation. I would like them to understand I am their advocate and willing to go beyond. They should see a passionate, committed and dedicated physician.” Said Dr. Mentes.
Outside of seeing patients his hobbies include watching the news, reading recent history, exercising, and following sports. Dr. Mentes has a goal of contributing to the wellbeing of those seeking care and providing the same hospitable kindness given to him by those at Ivinson.
